Jdimytai Damour. That’s his name…the name of the man who was killed when a throng of frenzied shoppers stormed a Walmart in Valley Stream New York yesterday morning, trampling him to death. Witnesses say that the store’s doors were literally broken down as bargain hunters rushed the store. People have labeled the shoppers as “animals” and “savages” saying that even as paramedics made futile attempts at reviving the 34 year old Jdimytai. shoppers continued to steam into the store, some stepping over him. Jdimytai was just trying to make a living, taking a temporary job at Walmart for the holidays.
Imagine my shock as I watched the news this morning – it seems every station had posted a talking head in the parking lot – to see that the store is opened for business as usual today. An employee was trampled to death in the store and they are open for business hours later. I don’t know about you, but I’m disgusted by that. This wasn’t an incident of a random medical emergency taking place – a mother going into labor or an elderly shopper suffering a heart attack – this was an employee’s death, brought on by the fact that Walmart offered no security for their employees that morning, simply posting workers like Jdimytai at the doors to control a crowd of over 2000 people. His death apparently means absolutely nothing to Walmart. These fucking bastards don’t give a god damn that one of their workers was killed, they still want to make a buck.
I guess the world’s largest company, with over 7300 stores worldwide (4100 in the U.S. alone) couldn’t afford to lose a day at one of it’s stores to respect and mourn the loss of an employee. Oh well…as Walmart was quick to point out, Jdimytai was a temporary employee from an agency, anyway. How utterly repulsive. Walmart is the fucking lowest alright.
So today I’m making a call to both the Valley Steam Walmart and Walmart Headquarters to register my contempt and disgust at their show of greed over compassion. If you’d like to do the same, here’s the info: The Walmart where Mr. Damour was killed is at 77 Green Acres Road in Valley Steam, New York. Their phone number is: (516) 887-0127. Ask them why they have so little respect for Mr. Damour that they couldn’t close their doors for 24 hours. Oh, employees would lose a day of pay? Then fucking pay them for the shift they would have lost you stingy mother fuckers! Walmart headquarters (in Bentonville AR) lists their number as 1-800-WAL-MART (1-800-925-6278). You can also fill out a “feedback survey” here. Ask them why they’re lying…ask them why their statement says they had “third party security on hand” when by all witness accounts they did not. Ask them why the richest company in the world – one that’s actually benefitting during an economic crisis – couldn’t direct their Valley Stream store to close it’s doors today.
You might also want to check out the following video from the Walmart in Elk City Oklahoma… obviously it’s meant to be funny, but to me it’s absolutely frightening when the crowd bursts through the doors (minute 4:00 on the video)…something similar to the incident that killed Jdimytai Damour could have easily happened here, too, as frenzied shoppers push and shove to get into the store, some actually carrying small children.

When does it stop?
